The Manage Custom Entries feature enables retailers to create additional field options not already standard in RICS for SKUs, Stores and/or Customers to filter, sort and group data. Applying a custom entry allows retailers to analyze sales and inventory transactions as they occur through the RICS Back Office and the RICS POS.
This document is a resource for retailers to understand how to:
• Create a Custom Entry
• Edit a Custom Entry
• Delete a Custom Entry
CREATE A CUSTOM ENTRY
Follow the steps below to create a custom entry.
1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Setup :: Manage Custom Entries
2. Use the Custom Entry Type section to select whether the custom entry will be a Single Select, Multiple Select or Custom Text
Options:
Single Select – After the hierarchical list of custom entries is created, only one option may be selected from the list at the RICS POS, Customer :: Customer :: Manage Customer, Setup :: Manage SKUs, Setup :: Manage Store :: Store Setup and report screens.
Multiple Select – After the hierarchical list of custom entries is created, multiple options may be selected from the list at the RICS POS, Customer :: Customer :: Manage Customer, Setup :: Manage SKUs, Setup :: Manage Store :: Store Setup and report screens.
Custom Text – Click to create a text field in which the user enters the desired text.
3. Use the Select One section to select whether a custom entry will be available for SKUs, Stores and/or Customers
Options:
SKUs – Click to attach the custom entry options to items. This will allow items to be filtered, sorted or grouped by custom entry selections on corresponding screens and reports within the RICS Back Office.
Stores – Click to attach the custom entry options to stores. This will allow stores to be filtered, sorted or grouped by custom entry selections on corresponding screens and reports within the RICS Back Office.
Customers – Click to attach the custom entry options to customers. This will allow customers to be filtered, sorted or grouped by custom entry selections on corresponding screens and reports within the RICS Back Office.
4. Enter up to a sixteen character alphanumeric custom entry in the Custom Entry Name field
Note: If necessary, click the checkbox next to Required to force the user to select one of the available options from the custom entry list.
5. Click Create Root
Note: The Custom entry root will display below the Custom Entry window and next to “Value will be added below”.
6. Enter up to a twenty character alphanumeric custom entry value to be available at the RICS POS, Customer :: Customer :: Manage Customer, Setup :: Manage SKUs, Setup :: Manage Store :: Store Setup and report screens
7. Click Add
Note: The custom entry value will display below the custom entry root in the Custom Entry window.
8. Repeat Steps 6 & 7 to add additional values
9. Click Save to create the custom entry list
EDIT A CUSTOM ENTRY
Follow the steps below to rename a custom entry root, or to add, rename or reorder a custom entry value.
RENAME CUSTOM ENTRY ROOT
1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Setup :: Manage Custom Entries
2. To select an existing custom entry root, use the LookUp Tool to enter or search for the custom entry root
Note: After a custom entry root is selected, the custom entry values will display below the Custom Entry window and the custom entry root will display next to “Value will be added below”.
3. Enter the updated root name in the Rename Value field
4. Click Rename
Note: The updated root name will replace the original custom entry root name in the custom entry window but will not save until Step 5.
5. Click Save
RENAME CUSTOM ENTRY VALUE
1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Setup :: Manage Custom Entries
2. To select an existing custom entry root, use the LookUp Tool to enter or search for the custom entry root
Note: After a custom entry root is selected, the custom entry values will display below the Custom Entry window.
3. Locate and select the custom entry value to be renamed
Note: After the custom entry value is selected, the custom entry value will populate in the Rename Value field.
4. Enter the updated name in the Rename Value field
5. Click Rename
Note: The updated value name will replace the original custom entry value in the custom entry window but will not save until Step 6.
6. Click Save
REORDER CUSTOM ENTRY VALUES
1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Setup :: Manage Custom Entries
2. To select an existing custom entry root, use the LookUp Tool to enter or search for the custom entry root
Note: After a custom entry root is selected, the custom entry values will display below the Custom Entry window.
3. Locate and select the custom entry value to be reordered
Note: After selecting the custom entry value, the value will be highlighted.
4. Click the up or down arrows to reorder the custom entry values
Note: The reordered custom entry values will not be saved until Step 5.
5. Click Save
ADD CUSTOM ENTRY VALUE
1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Setup :: Manage Custom Entries
2. To select an existing custom entry root, use the LookUp Tool to enter or search for the custom entry root
Note: After a custom entry root is selected, the custom entry values will display below the Custom Entry window and the custom entry root will display next to “Value will be added below”.
3. Enter the custom entry value to be added under the custom entry root in the Enter Value field
4. Click Add
Note: A custom entry value will be added and display in the custom entry window but will not save until Step 5.
5. Click Save
DELETE A CUSTOM ENTRY
Follow the steps below to delete a custom entry value and/or a custom entry.
DELETE CUSTOM ENTRY VALUE
1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Setup :: Manage Custom Entries
2. To select an existing custom entry root, use the LookUp Tool to enter or search for the custom entry root
Note: After a custom entry root is selected, the custom entry values will display below the Custom Entry window.
3. Locate and select the custom entry value to be deleted
Note: After selecting the custom entry value, the value will be highlighted.
4. Click the to delete the custom entry value
5. Click Yes when prompted to delete the custom entry value
Note: The custom entry value will be deleted but will not save until Step 6.
6. Click Save
DELETE CUSTOM ENTRY ROOT
1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Setup :: Manage Custom Entries
2. To select an existing custom entry root, use the LookUp Tool to enter or search for the custom entry root
Note: After a custom entry root is selected, the custom entry values will display below the Custom Entry window.
3. Click Yes when prompted to delete the custom entry root
