How to Manage Product Models

The Manage Product Models feature enables retailers to set a desired on hand inventory quantity for a SKU by creating a minimum, maximum and/or re-order quantity. Product models trigger automated purchase orders and transfer orders to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.

This document is a resource for retailers to understand how to:
Create a Product Model
Edit a Product Model
Delete a Product Model
Copy a Product Model to Product(s)
Copy a Product Model to Store(s)

CREATE A PRODUCT MODEL
Follow the steps below to create a product model.

1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Inventory :: Stock Maintenance :: Enter Product Models

2. To select a SKU, enter or search for the SKU in the SKU field

3. Enter the store owner number or store number in the Organization field

Note: A product model created at a store owner level will flow down to all lower level stores unless otherwise overridden at a lower level store.

4. Enter the model name in the Model Name field

5. Enter the start date and end date in the corresponding fields

Note: The start date is a required field and will default to today’s date which can be modified as needed. The end date is an optional field and can be left blank.

 6. Enter the model quantity, max quantity or re-order quantity under the corresponding tabs

Options:

Model Quantity: The minimum desired on hand inventory quantity. An item will be added to a purchase order or transfer order to replenish the store’s inventory if the on hand quantity is below the set model quantity.

Max Quantity: The maximum desired on hand inventory quantity. An item will not be added to a purchase order or transfer order if the on hand quantity is at or above the set maximum quantity.

Note: If an item exceeds one store’s max quantity and is below the model quantity at another store, the item will be added to a transfer order to reduce the overstocked store’s inventory to below the set max quantity and increase inventory to the understocked store’s set model quantity.

Re-Order Quantity: The re-order quantity is set if an item is only sold in case packs.
