How to Analyze Salesperson Performance

RICS Point of Sale feature enables retailers to track and analyze transactions processed through the RICS POS to measure performance by salesperson for a selected period of time. To assist retailers with tracking and analyzing these sales transactions, RICS has several key reports.

This document is a resource for retailers to understand how to analyze salesperson sales using:

GENERATE A SALESPERSON SUMMARY REPORT
The RICS Salesperson Summary report enables retailers to measure salesperson performance based on supplier or class for all items sold during a selected period of time.  To generate a Salesperson Summary report:

1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Reporting :: Report Creator

2. Type Salesperson Summary in the search box or navigate to Sales People :: Salesperson Summary in the menu


FILE OPTIONS

1. Use the File Type dropdown menu to determine the output format

Note: If choosing CSV, use the Advanced Options dropdown to set a Field Delimiter.

2. As needed, enter a report description in the Report Name field

Note: Report descriptions will display in the Report Manager screen.

3. As needed, enter a valid email address in the Email A Copy To field to email the report


REPORT OPTIONS

1. Use the scroll bar to navigate to the Report Options section

2. Use the In Order Of dropdown menu to determine the order in which to display the analyzed salespeople

In Order Of Options:

User Code – Select to display analyzed salespeople in order of cashier code.

Last Name – Select to display analyzed salespeople in order of a user’s last name.

First Name – Select to display analyzed salespeople in order of a user’s first name.

3. Use the Group By dropdown menu to determine how to group the analyzed sales

Group By Options:

Suppliers – Select to display analyzed sales by supplier code.

Class – Select to display analyzed sales by class.

4. Use the Sales Period dropdown menu to determine what sales period to analyze

5. If necessary, select the Include Coupons (Subtract from Sales) option to determine if coupons will display on a report

6. Enter a value to determine in which class depth the sales will display on a report, in the Class Depth Limit field

Note: To report at the lowest class level, leave this field blank.

7. If necessary, use the What Fields do You Want to Include section to determine what additional totals to display on a report

Field Options:

Include SKU Subtotals – Select to display the SKU total by Group By option selected in Step 3.

Include Cashier Summary – Select to display the cashier summary for each salesperson.

8. Use the What Users Would You Like to Include section to determine which users to display on a report

User Options:

Include Unapproved Users – Leave unselected to prevent sales and salespeople from being excluded.

Include Disabled Users – Select to display analyzed salespeople who are disabled within RICS Back Office.

Include Deleted Users – Select to display analyzed salespeople who have been deleted within RICS Back Office.

9. Use the Store Options dropdown menu to determine how analyzed store data will be grouped

Store Options:

Separate Stores – Select to display salesperson sales by individual store.

Combine Stores – Select to display combined salesperson sales for all stores.


REPORT CRITERIA

1. After selecting the report options, use the scroll bar to navigate to the Report Criteria section

Note: To report on all sales within a store based on the selections in the Report Options section only, proceed to Step 3.

2. Select and enter the necessary criteria to determine what sales to display

Report Criteria Options:

By Store – Enter or search for a store code(s) to determine which store(s) to output.

By Store State – Enter a state’s abbreviation(s) to determine which state(s) to output.

By Supplier – Enter or search for a supplier code(s) to determine which supplier(s) sales to output.

By Class – From the dropdown menu, select the class or classes to determine which class sales to output.

By Color – Enter a color(s) to determine which color(s) sales to output.

By SKU – Enter or search for an item(s) to determine which item(s) sales to output.

By Salespeople – Enter or search for a salesperson(s) to determine which salesperson(s) sales to output.

Product Custom Entries – If set up within the store, enter a custom entry or entries to determine which custom entry sales to output.

Note: Multiple options can be selected to narrow down a search. If selecting multiple Stores, States, Suppliers, Colors, SKUs, Sales People or Product Custom Entries, separate each value by a comma. To exclude the selected value(s), select the checkbox next to Exc.

3. Click Run

 

 


GENERATE A SALESPERSON ANALYSIS REPORT
The RICS Salesperson Analysis report enables retailers to measure a salesperson performance against additional salespeople to determine sales rewards and make adjustments to training programs.  To generate a Salesperson Analysis report:

1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Reporting :: Report Creator

2. Type Salesperson Analysis in the search box or navigate to Sales People :: Salesperson Analysis in the menu


FILE OPTIONS

1. Use the File Type dropdown menu to determine the output format

Note: If choosing CSV, use the Advanced Options dropdown to set a Field Delimiter.

2. As needed, enter a report description in the Report Name field

Note: Report descriptions will display in the Report Manager screen.

3. As needed, enter a valid email address in the Email A Copy To field to email the report


REPORT OPTIONS

1. Use the scroll bar to navigate to the Report Options section

2. Use the Sales Period dropdown menus to determine what sales periods to analyze

3. Use the Sales dropdown menu to determine what sale transactions to analyze

Sales Options:

All Sales – Select to display all sales transactions excluding Special Order or Layaway transaction for each salesperson.

Special Orders – Select to display all special order transactions for each salesperson.

Layaways – Select to display all layaway transactions for each salesperson.

4. If necessary, select the Include Coupons (Subtract from Sales) option to determine if coupons will display on a report

5. Use the How Do You Want to Count Tickets section to determine how all transactions will be displayed on a report

Ticket Options:

Simple Ticket Count – Select to display a count of all tickets for a salesperson regardless of transaction type or summed quantity.

Calculated Ticket Count – Select to display the sum of all line item quantities on a ticket for a Regular, Employee, Returns, Special Order Pickup and/or Layaway Sale/Cancel transaction.

Calculated Ticket Count Calculation:

Quantity > 0, ticket counts as 1
Quantity < 0, ticket counts as -1
Quantity = 0, ticket counts as 0

6. If necessary, select the Profit $ option to determine if profit will display on a report

7. Use the What Users Would You Like to Include section to determine which users to display on a report

User Options:

Include Unapproved Users – Leave unselected to prevent sales and salespeople from being excluded.

Include Disabled Users – Select to display analyzed salespeople who are disabled within RICS Back Office.

Include Deleted Users – Select to display analyzed salespeople who have been deleted within RICS Back Office.

8. Use the Store Options dropdown menu to determine how analyzed store data will be grouped

Store Options:

Separate Stores – Select to display salesperson sales by individual store.

Combine Stores – Select to display combined salesperson sales for all stores.

 

REPORT CRITERIA

1. After selecting the report options, use the scroll bar to navigate to the Report Criteria section

Note: To report on all sales within a store based on the selections in the Report Options section only, proceed to Step 3. To report on a salesperson’s class sales as compared to total sales, proceed to the Accessories section. To exclude a salesperson’s class sales from the % of Multi Sales, proceed to the Multiple Sales Exclude section.

2. Select and enter the necessary criteria to determine what store(s) and salespeople to display

Report Criteria Options:

By Store – Enter or search for a store code(s) to determine which store(s) to output.

By Store State – Enter a state’s abbreviation(s) to determine which state(s) to output.

By Salespeople – Enter or search for a salesperson(s) to determine which salesperson(s) sales to output.

Note: Multiple options can be selected to narrow down a search. If selecting multiple Stores, States or Sales People, separate each value by a comma. To exclude the selected value(s), select the checkbox next to Exc.

ACCESSORIES

1. After selecting the report criteria, use the scroll bar to navigate to the Accessories section

2. Use the By Class dropdown menu to display the percent of sales for a class or classes as compared to total sales

 

Example: To view the percent of sock sales for a salesperson as compared to total sales, select the Sock class in the Class dropdown menu.

3. Click Run


MULTIPLE SALES EXCLUDE

1. After selecting the Accessories options, use the scroll bar to navigate to the Multiple Sales Exclude section

2. Use the By Class dropdown menu to exclude the sales for a class or classes in the % of multiple sales if more than one item is sold on a single ticket

 

Example: To exclude a salesperson’s sock sales from the % of Multi Sales column, select the Sock class in the Class dropdown menu.

3. Click Run

 

 


GENERATE A SALESPERSON ADD ON PERFORMANCE REPORT

The RICS Salesperson Add On Performance report enables retailers to measure a salesperson performance against 3 add on classes to determine sales rewards and adjust training programs. To generate a Salesperson Add On Performance report:

1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Reporting :: Report Creator

2. Type Salesperson Add On Performance in the search box or navigate to Sales People :: Salesperson Add On Performance in the menu


FILE OPTIONS

1. Use the File Type dropdown menu to determine the output format

Note: If choosing CSV, use the Advanced Options dropdown to set a Field Delimiter.

2. As needed, enter a report description in the Report Name field

Note: Report descriptions will display in the Report Manager screen.

3. As needed, enter a valid email address in the Email A Copy To field to email the report

REPORT OPTIONS

1. Use the scroll bar to navigate to the Report Options section

2. Use the Sales Period dropdown menu to determine what sales period to analyze

3. Use the Classes to Consider section to determine what base class and add-on class will be analyzed

Class Options:

Base Class (Required) – Select the class to determine which base class sales will be analyzed for each salesperson.

Add-On Class 1 (Required) – Select the class to determine which add-on class sales will be analyzed and compared to the base class selected for each salesperson.

Add-On Class 2 – Select the class to determine which add-on class sales will be analyzed and compared to the base class selected for each salesperson.

Add-On Class 3 – Select the class to determine which add-on class sales will be analyzed and compared to the base class selected for each salesperson.

REPORT CRITERIA

1. After selecting the report options, use the scroll bar to navigate to the Report Criteria section

Note: To report on all sales based on the selections in the Report Options section only, proceed to Step 3.

2. Select and enter the necessary criteria to determine what store(s) to display

Report Criteria Options:

By Store – Enter or search for a store code(s) to determine which store(s) to output.

By Store State – Enter a state’s abbreviation(s) to determine which state(s) to output.

Note: Multiple options can be selected to narrow down a search. If selecting multiple Stores or States, separate each value by a comma. To exclude the selected value(s), select the checkbox next to Exc.

 

3. Click Run

 

 

 


GENERATE A TIME CLOCK DATA REPORT
The RICS Time Clock report screen enables retailers to view time clock records by salesperson to track and analyze entry date and time to ensure a salesperson is working the correct hours. To generate a Time Clock report:

1. In the RICS Back Office, go to Reporting :: Report Creator

2. Type Time Clock in the search box or navigate to Sales People :: Time Clock in the menu


FILE OPTIONS

1. Use the File Type dropdown menu to determine the output format

Note: If choosing CSV, use the Advanced Options dropdown to set a Field Delimiter.

2. As needed, enter a report description in the Report Name field

Note: Report descriptions will display in the Report Manager screen.

3. As needed, enter a valid email address in the Email A Copy To field to email the report

By Store State – Enter a state’s abbreviation(s) to determine which state(s) to output.

By Salespeople – Enter or search for a salesperson(s) to determine which salesperson(s) sales to output.

3. Click Run

 

PRINTING OPTIONS

1. After selecting the report criteria, use the scroll bar to navigate to the Printing Options section

2. If necessary, select the Print Salesperson Detail option to display all time clock records by entry date and time

3. Click Run
